Basements are generally taller than the pre-war Toronto average and foundations are poured concrete rather than block, which makes cutting new egress windows and side entrances significantly less complicated.
Larger lots and separated houses mean less disruption to neighbours and simpler material staging, so Scarborough projects usually run closer to schedule than comparable downtown work.
